The best of two decades, captured in one HSS set.
A PAF pickup is undeniably the perfect transducer for transparent yet powerful sounds. It is deliberately chosen not to sound too thick, as we aim for the most homogeneous behavior possible in combination with the two single-coils.
The '54 pickup in the neck position also delivers a pleasantly transparent and crisp sound. There's a reason why single-coils from the 50s are the first choice for guitarists seeking a tone with a beautifully shimmering vintage character.
Joining it is the '64 Middle Pickup, which offers contrast: more mids and a sassy response. It perfectly complements the sonic palette for sounds that are at home (not only) in the mid-gain range. A small but important detail: the middle PU is reverse wound here, so you don't have to sacrifice the advantageous hum cancellation in switch position 4.
So what's the deal? The HSS Retro Set tonally delivers everything a Strat guitarist could wish for – and always absolutely direct, puristic, and totally honest!
The combination of the RAW cover for the humbucker and the Vintage-White caps for the single-coils is a suggestion from me. Feel free to inquire about other color combinations.
